What the ranking expects
The ranking has Ireland as favourite.
Ireland0.21Argentina
Expected result 0.21 (1 = Argentina wins, 0.5 = even, 0 = Ireland wins). It is the expectation built into the World Rugby formula, not a measured chance: with 10 points of difference or more the formula already counts the win as certain.

Rugby World Cup 2027: Argentina's pool in Argentine time →
How we compute it
- Day, Argentine time and stadium come from the ESPN fixture. While there is no confirmed kick-off we show only the day, with "time to be confirmed": we never make up a time.
- Ranking points: the official World Rugby exchange. The gap between the two teams (capped at 10) sets how many points move; a win by more than 15 or a World Cup match moves more.
- Since 1 July 2026 the ranking gives no extra points for playing at home.
- We do not give a chance of winning: what we show is the expectation of the ranking formula and the points at stake. No odds, no betting.

How the World Rugby ranking moves
- Points exchangeWhatever one team gains, the other loses. Only test matches between World Rugby full member unions count.
- Home advantageNo home advantage any more: World Rugby removed it (see sources). Before, the home side counted as 3 points stronger.
- Rating gapSubtract the rival's rating from your own. A gap above 10 counts as 10.
- Core changeA win adds up to 2 points, a defeat costs up to 2. The stronger the rival, the more a win gives and the less a defeat costs.
- MultipliersIf the match is won by more than 15 points on the scoreboard, the change is multiplied by 1.5. At the World Cup everything also counts 2 times.

Questions
When is Los Pumas' next match?
Next match: against Ireland, on Nov 6, 2026 at 17:10 (Argentina time), in Dublin.
Where is Argentina in the rugby world ranking?
Argentina is in 8th place, with 82.24 points (by the table published on Wikipedia as of Sep 28, 2026, which replicates the official World Rugby ranking and can be a few weeks behind). That is the latest published table we read, with its date: it can be days or weeks behind the latest matches.
Why is there no chance of winning?
Because World Rugby does not publish one and the ranking does not measure it. We show the result its formula expects: with a gap of 10 points or more it counts the win as certain, and on the pitch that does not always happen.
Why does a win sometimes add nothing?
If Argentina is 10 ranking points or more above the rival, the formula already counted on that win: winning adds nothing and losing costs a lot.
How much is a World Cup match worth?
Twice an ordinary test: one match can move a team up to 6 points, when the weaker side wins by more than 15.
