Professional era (from 1931)Amateur era (1891 to 1934)

List: AFA, "Campeones de Primera División" (read on Nov 1, 2026). Check: Spanish Wikipedia, "Palmarés de la Primera División de Argentina" (revision of Oct 25, 2026): the same totals for every club, except Old Caledonians. In 1891 Saint Andrew's and Old Caledonians finished level; the AFA counts Saint Andrew's (it won the play-off) and Wikipedia lists both. English High School is counted with Alumni and Lomas Academy with Lomas Athletic, as Wikipedia does. National cups (Copa Argentina, Copa de la Liga, Trofeo de Campeones, super cups) are not league titles: the AFA lists them apart.

Why there are so many titles

  1. Two erasThe amateur era runs from 1891 to 1934 and the professional era starts in 1931. From 1931 to 1934 both had a champion.
  2. Parallel leaguesFrom 1912 to 1914 and from 1919 to 1926 there were two associations, and the AFA recognises the champion of each.
  3. Two tournaments a yearMetropolitano and Nacional from 1967 to 1985; Apertura and Clausura from 1991 to 2014 (named Inicial and Final at the end). Each tournament is a title.
  4. Since 2025The Apertura and the Clausura came back, and the AFA also counts the champion of the annual table as a title. The latest on the list: Belgrano (Córdoba), Apertura 2026.
